TapTechNews June 20th, according to the news from CRRC Tangshan Company, on the morning of June 18, 2024 local time (late evening of June 18 Beijing time) in the Humahuaca Valley in the northern Argentine province of Jujuy, two sets of new energy light rail trains developed by CRRC Tangshan Company fully loaded with tourists set off. This is the first time that China's intelligent manufacturing new energy light rail train has been exported overseas and put into commercial operation in South America.
TapTechNewsAccording to the previous reports summary, the Jujuy New Energy Light Rail Train Project signed the contract on May 5, 2022, the first train was off the production line on June 6, 2023, was shipped and departed on September 20, 2023, arrived in Argentina on November 14, 2023, and was officially delivered to the user on December 7, 2023.
Since then, CRRC Tangshan Company has formed an after-sales service team to cooperate with the owner to carry out half-year of commissioning, testing and line trial operation work.
The two new energy light rail trains named TrenSolar de la Quebrada officially carried passengers and operated. From the Volcán station to the Maimará station, they ran along the rehabilitated track of the C branch of the old Belgrano Railway, passing through the Tumbaya and Purmamarca towns in the Huamahuaca Valley, a world cultural heritage. The whole journey is 21.75 miles.
The light rail train uses the local original infrastructure and solar photovoltaic power generation resources and is driven by lithium iron phosphate battery; with 2 carriages编组, it can accommodate 70 passengers, and the maximum operation speed is 37.3 miles per hour.
The carriage is customized with large-size wide-angle viewing windows and side-top viewing windows with the lines and color schemes featuring the Huamahuaca Valley to facilitate tourists to enjoy the scenery of the world cultural heritage area outside the window.
It is known that the Jujuy province plans to extend the operation line of the new energy light rail train to the local main attractions of Tilcara and finally reach La Quiaca at the border between Argentina and Bolivia.
