TapTechNews October 11th news, Tesla officially released the Cybercab driverless taxi today. Musk revealed that the vehicle will introduce inductive charging technology, and the vehicle has no charging port.
Musk said that the current mode of transportation is "terrible" and believes that vehicles are often idle and waste resources. He pointed out that the use efficiency of autonomous vehicles will be higher, "with autonomous driving, you can save more time... These cars are ten times safer than ordinary cars."
He also predicted that the cost of autonomous transportation will be low enough to be comparable to public transportation. Musk estimates that in the future, the operating cost of robot taxis can be reduced to 20 cents per mile (TapTechNews note: currently about 1.4 RMB yuan), and including taxes it will be 30 to 40 cents (currently about 2.1 to 2.8 RMB yuan).
Tesla plans to keep the price of Cybercab below 30,000 US dollars (currently about 212,000 RMB yuan) and envisions that in the future people can own multiple Cybercabs and operate fleets through a shared mobility platform to achieve revenue.
In terms of technology, the vehicle will operate relying on AI and vision systems. Tesla has already abandoned radar and sensors widely used by other companies such as Waymo, which has also helped them reduce manufacturing costs.
In December last year, Tesla officially confirmed that it is developing a wireless inductive charger suitable for household use. At that time, Tesla's chief designer FranzvonHolzhausen confirmed this news, and he said: "We are developing inductive charging technology, and then you don't even need to plug in anything. Just drive the car onto the charging pad in the garage and it will start charging automatically."
