Chinese Prosecutorial Organs' Handling Data of Crimes in the First Half of the Year

TapTechNews July 29th news, the Supreme People's Procuratorate reported today the handling data of procuratorial organs from January to June this year.

In the first half of this year, the procuratorial organs prosecuted 120,000 people for crimes committed through the Internet, a decrease of 5.5% year-on-year. Actively participated in the special campaign to combat and deal with the telecommunications and online fraud crimes involving northern Myanmar, and continuously promoted special campaigns such as 'cutting off cards' and 'cutting off flows'. Prosecuted 25,000 people for telecommunications and online fraud crimes and more than 45,000 people for crimes of assisting information network crimes, with year-on-year increases of 44.1% and a decrease of 25.2% respectively. Filed 111 public interest litigations in the field of anti-telecommunications and online fraud.

In the first half of the year, the procuratorial organs prosecuted 62,000 people for crimes disrupting the market economic order, an increase of 36.5% year-on-year. Prosecuted 5,827 people for crimes of job occupation, misappropriation of funds, bribery and other enterprise-related crimes committed by key post personnel in private enterprises by taking advantage of their positions, an increase of 41.1% year-on-year. In the first half of this year, the procuratorial organs prosecuted 12,000 people for financial crimes, an increase of 7.6% year-on-year. Deeply carried out the special campaign to combat illegal fund-raising, and prosecuted 7,763 people for crimes of fund-raising fraud and illegal absorption of public deposits, an increase of 4.1% year-on-year.

The procuratorial organs prosecuted 8,894 people for crimes of infringing intellectual property rights, an increase of 45.5% year-on-year; handled 1,837 civil and administrative litigation supervision cases in the field of intellectual property rights, an increase of 74% year-on-year; handled 480 public interest litigations in the field of intellectual property rights.

TapTechNews noted that the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Public Security issued the 'Opinions on Several Issues Concerning the Application of Law in Handling Cross-Border Telecommunications and Network Fraud and Other Criminal Cases' at the end of June.

The 'two highs and one ministry' stated that they will focus on combating criminal groups and their organizers, planners, commanders and key members according to law; focus on combating organizations that provide shelter for cross-border telecommunications and network fraud and other crimes; focus on combating criminal acts such as intentional homicide, intentional injury, kidnapping, rape, forced prostitution and illegal detention implemented by criminal groups; focus on combating criminal acts of organizing and transporting others to cross the country's (border) illegally for the purpose of recruiting members for cross-border telecommunications and network fraud criminal groups.
