Toyota Completes Investigation of Japanese Vehicle Model Certification; No New Violations Found

On June 3rd, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, it conducted an investigation into its vehicle model certification application on January 26th this year. Although the investigation is still ongoing, the test methods of seven vehicle models (including some models that have been discontinued since 2014) do not conform to the government standards.

Toyota Motor Corporation stated that it has reported the current investigation situation to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. For the concerns and inconvenience caused to customers, Toyota expressed deep apologies to all stakeholders including customers, and said it will take appropriate countermeasures according to the guidance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, on June 3rd, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan released the news that a total of 5 companies including Toyota Motor Corporation, Mazda, Yamaha Motor, Honda Motor and Suzuki have engaged in fraud in vehicle performance testing and other aspects, and the relevant departments ordered the suspension of shipments of some models.
