Since parting ways with EA last year, FIFA has been lacking an officially licensed football game. FIFA once claimed that it planned to launch a new video game to compete with EASportsFC, but so far no specific information has been announced.
Officials introduced that to participate in the FIFAe World Cup 2024, one must first pass the qualifiers consisting of 3 rounds of in-game activities (which officially started today); the prize pool will be distributed according to the final ranking of the teams; players can choose to participate in a country other than their own nationality.
KONAMI and FIFA stated, This cooperation aims to further enhance the joy of the global football community through e-sports. By allowing players to represent their respective countries in special competitions, the community cohesion will be taken to a higher level.
TapTechNews noticed that this e-sports event adopts an offline battle mode, limited to PlayStation (PS4 and PS5) and mobile platforms (iOS and Android). In the qualifier stage, it is all 1v1, while in the main event stage, the console platform adopts a 2v2 mode and the mobile platform is still 1v1 mode.
