TapTechNews October 10th news, the storage company ScaleFlux announced today that it has launched two PCIe 5.0 NVMe enterprise-level / data center-level solid-state drive controllers FC5116, FC5104 and its first CXL memory controller MC500.
Among them, FC5104 supports a single PCIe 5.0 × 4 port and is a product for server boot drive applications. This controller supports NAND with a capacity of 240GB to 8TB and is compatible with form factors such as M.2 2240 and larger, E1.S, and U.2.
FC5104 can be used with TLC or QLC flash memory, and also supports DRAM (TapTechNews note: only DDR5) and DRAM-less solutions, and has power failure protection function, which is quite rare among solid-state drive controllers.
While FC5116 is the first in the SSD controller industry to integrate the OCPCaliptra chip trust root open source security technology, which can provide strong security guarantees for the next-generation data center and AINVMe storage.
This controller supports single PCIe 5.0 × 4 port and dual PCIe 5.0 × 2 port modes, supports TLC or QLC NAND flash memory from 4TB to 128TB, and is compatible with various EDSFF form factors such as U.3, U.2, and supports DDR5 external DRAM cache.
ScaleFlux MC500 CXL memory controller supports PCIe 5.0 × 4/x8 and CXL 3.1 specifications, can be configured as single-port or dual-port mode, and is compatible with E3.S 1T/2T and PCIe full-height half-length, half-height half-height add-on cards, when paired with DDR4 memory, it supports up to 512GB capacity, and when paired with DDR5, the capacity limit doubles to 1TB.
MC500 controller supports ScaleFlux RS advanced ECC and has hardware trust root technologies such as Caliptra.
ScaleFlux said that these three products will be sampled soon, and solid-state drives and CXL memory modules based on these controllers are expected to be launched in 2025.
