The report shows that as of June 24, 2024, the value of cryptocurrency stolen by hackers this year exceeds 1.38 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 10.049 billion Chinese yuan), while it was only 657 million US dollars in the same period in 2023. In addition, the average amount of each theft case this year is also 50% higher than that in the same period last year.

So far this year, one of the largest cryptocurrency theft cases is the unauthorized leak incident that occurred at the Japanese cryptocurrency exchange DMMBitcoin, losing bitcoins worth about 308 million US dollars.

Cryptocurrency companies are often the targets of hacker attacks and cyberattacks, but such large-scale loss events are not very common.
