TapTechNews October 10th news, according to Bloomberg, Dan Riccio, a long-time employee of Apple, will retire from the company later this month.
According to TapTechNews, Riccio has worked at Apple for 26 years, and most recently was responsible for the development of VisionPro as a vice president of engineering and reported to Apple's CEO Tim Cook.
Riccio joined Apple in June 1998 as director of product design and was promoted to senior vice president of hardware engineering in August 2012, holding that position for more than eight years before moving to an undisclosed project in 2021, which was later confirmed to be the VisionPro headset.
John Ternus succeeds Riccio as senior vice president of hardware engineering at Apple, and Ternus will also take over the development of VisionPro and the thousands of engineers in the Vision ProductsGroup. Mike Rockwell, who worked under Riccio, will continue to oversee the daily work of VisionPro and similar headsets.
In addition to being involved in the development of VisionPro, Riccio was also a key advocate of Apple's self-driving car project, which was ultimately abandoned by Apple earlier this year. During his tenure at Apple, he was also responsible for overseeing the development of AirPods, iPad Pro, and the first large-screen iPhone.
