TapTechNews July 6th, the graphics card market is very tricky, especially the used market. Some graphics card scams are easy to spot, while others may require complete disassembly to know. In the latest video, repair shop Northwestrepair demonstrated a scam that is difficult to distinguish with regular means.
The team got a seemingly brand new RTX4090TUF graphics card with a protective film still on it, but after disassembly, it was found that the GPU chip is not AD102, but GA102 in GeForceRTX3080Ti.
The size of the AD102 GPU is 608 square millimeters, while the size of the GA102 is 628 square millimeters, and the team also found that someone specially polished the chip, removed the label, and then laser etched a new chip. The whole chip looks very fine.
The team also found that at least one memory module is not 2GB, but 256MB, and it is not GDDR6 memory at all. TapTechNews attaches the relevant video as follows:
