TapTechNews October 11th news, Forbes released a blog post on October 9th, reporting that Apple held a Global Police Summit in 2023, inviting more than 50 police officers from 7 countries and regions to teach law enforcement officers how to better use iPhone, CarPlay, and VisionPro for policing work.
The summit was said to be held in October 2023 and lasted for three days, scheduled before the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference.
This summit attracted up to 50 police officers from Australia to Sweden to discuss how to use Apple technology to improve law enforcement efficiency.
The meeting content included sharing success stories, innovations, and experiences, and Apple also introduced new products and functions such as CarPlay, crash detection, Satellite Emergency SOS, and VisionPro.
TapTechNews quoted media reports that although Apple had some friction with law enforcement agencies due to refusing to assist the FBI in cracking the iPhone of the terrorist attacker, but in recent years, Apple has strengthened its cooperation with the police through conferences and other activities.
For example, the New Zealand police showed their iOS app OnDuty, which was developed in cooperation with local developers, for storing and accessing policing information.
And the law enforcement agencies in California have the closest cooperation with Apple, and multiple agencies are testing various Apple products.
Matthew Guariglia, an analyst at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, believes that Apple keeps a low profile about the meeting because it does not conform to its marketing concept of protecting user privacy.
