The project is promoted by Sony's Sony Block Solution Laboratory, which is headquartered in Singapore and chaired by Jun Watanabe, hoping to explore the construction of a Web3 infrastructure network.

Soneium plans to become a public and general network, aiming to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 by cultivating creativity and openness.

TapTechNews learned from the report that the Soneium project utilizes the Optimism OPStack technology, which is a Layer 2 solution designed to improve the scalability of the Ethereum blockchain, reduce transaction costs and increase speed.

Soneium is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling smart contracts to be executed efficiently and securely. The network plans to launch its test network in the coming weeks, while releasing technical documentation and a software development kit (SDK).
