TapTechNews May 24th news, the Samsung 'right to repair' incident is escalating. In addition to the repair team iFixit announcing the termination of its cooperation with it on June 17th, the newly disclosed documents show that Samsung forces independent repair shops to provide the owner's personal information, and not only refuses to repair machines that use third-party parts, but also has to 'nitch' to Samsung.
A copy of the contract between Samsung and independent service providers disclosed by the tech media 404Media stipulates that independent service providers need to send customer information to Samsung, including name, address, phone number, mobile serial number and IMEI, customer complaints, and all details of the repair. In addition, there is also a detail in the contract that if the customer's mobile phone sent for repair has ever used third-party parts, then the independent service provider is required to refuse the repair and also has to 'nitch' to Samsung.
Samsung has not responded to 404Media's request for comment. The tech media TheVerge has been in contact with Samsung for the past two hours, and Samsung has not yet confirmed or denied this report.
