NovaLauncher's Development Team Undergoes Major Layoffs, But Work Will Continue

TapTechNews August 10th news, NovaLauncher was once a fairly well-known Android third-party desktop. When major mobile phone manufacturers had not yet tightened the permissions for third-party desktop launchers, it was once widely welcomed by enthusiasts.

However, the official X (Twitter) account of NovaLauncher announced early yesterday morning that its development team has undergone large-scale layoffs, and finally changed from a team that originally had dozens of people to only one full-time developer - the founder and original developer of the launcher, Kevin Barry.

Kevin Barry claims that the development work of the new version of NovaLauncher will continue, and he will continue to be in charge of this project. The laid-off team members said that the development work of NovaLauncher will have to slow down.

Early this morning Beijing time, Kevin Barry gave further explanation through the official X account of NovaLauncher: Hello everyone, I'm Kevin. I just want to clarify that the core team of Nova used to have 3 people. The broader team was about a dozen people, and their work was not just Nova. I will still miss the days of working with them.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, in July 2022, NovaLauncher and its related application SesameUniversalSearch were acquired by the mobile link analysis company Branch. Kevin Barry, the developer of NovaLauncher, announced that Branch has purchased these two applications and hired a team consisting of him, Nova community manager Cliff Wade, and the SesameSearch developer.
