Xiaomi Vela's Development and Future Plans in Open Source and IoT

TapTechNews August 20th news, the head of Xiaomi Vela open source, Du Chao, delivered a keynote speech at the 19th 'Open Source China Open Source World' conference, elaborating on the development process, technical advantages, and open source and ecological partner plans of Xiaomi Vela.

Du Chao said: Xiaomi Vela is an IoT embedded software platform built by Xiaomi based on the open source real-time operating system NuttX, and it has currently been widely applied in more than 47 million devices (about 47 million units).

Over the past three years, Xiaomi Vela has covered more than 1000 SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) in fields such as smart home and smart wearables.

TapTechNews noticed that Xiaomi said it will publicly disclose more than 10 million lines of Xiaomi Vela open source code, and currently, it has completed the compliance review and optimization of the out-of-the-box experience of open source code. The main open source site will be set up on GitHub, and a mirror site will also be set up on Gitee, and an official account of Xiaomi Vela will also be set up on Bilibili.

Du Chao said that Xiaomi will further exert the technical advantages of Xiaomi Vela in the fields of low power consumption and real-time control, improve the user experience of devices such as smart watches and smart phones through deep integration with the Android and Linux systems, and expand to more extensive IoT application scenarios such as automobiles, robots, and intelligent manufacturing.
